So the other day I was asked to link a clients Contact forms (Contact Form 7) to MailChimp. This turns out to be very simple!
Fist things first: Get a MailChimp account.
Set up a mail chimp account here, this is a very simple process and for 5000 or less sends per month, it’s free! After you have created an account navigate to “Lists” and create a new list.
NOTE: You MUST remember authorise your account, you will be sent an email from MailChimp!
Install this plugin to your WordPress instance. Now you need the MailChip API key. From your MailChimp dashboard use the drop down on the top right of the MailChimp page (where your user name is) and select account, the extras / API key. Create a new key copy this key to your clipboard.
Set up CF7 AutoResponder Addon plugin
When you have the plugin installed and activated head over to WP/Dashboard/Settings/CF7 AutoResp Addon and paste your MailChimp API key and list name into the relevant input boxes. Last of all set up how you want the plugin to work IE: Either tick “Enable Mailchimp List Insertion:” checkbox. This will auto send the name and email data to your mail chimp list or leave this checkbox unchecked and add a check box to your contact form(s) like this:

Now when a user submits one of your forms their details are sent to be stored in your list on your MailChimp account, ready for your future marketing campaigns.
